Mobile ventilation systems for tactical and military use
Focus on P.O.P.S. system and removable floor. RIGLOO stands for a highly specialized protection system that has been consistently developed for use in situations where medical care must be provided under time pressure, in adverse environmental conditions, and often under tactical threat. The products were not developed with comfort in mind, but rather based on the operational reality of rescue workers, medical units, and military forces. The focus is always on the same question: How can a patient be immediately protected and treated without having to move them?
The result of this thinking is a modular, inflatable protective tent system that creates a closed treatment room within a very short time. RIGLOO thus clearly positions itself between initial contact and evacuation. It does not replace a fixed infrastructure, but bridges precisely that critical phase in which the wounded are particularly at risk and medical decisions have to be made under difficult conditions.

The P.O.P.S. system at the heart of the concept. At the heart of all RIGLOO products is the P.O.P.S. system, which stands for Place Over Patient Structure. This system is not just a technical detail, but the fundamental idea behind the entire product design. Classic tents or shelters almost always require the patient to be moved, transferred, or at least lifted in order to set up the shelter. It is precisely this step that poses one of the greatest risks in prehospital care.
The P.O.P.S. system reverses this approach. The RIGLOO is not set up around the patient, but is placed directly over the patient and the caregiver. The injured person remains on the stretcher or in the position in which they were found. There is no turning, no moving, and no lifting. This prevents secondary trauma, especially in cases of suspected spinal injuries, internal bleeding, or complex multiple injuries.
From a tactical point of view, the P.O.P.S. system offers an enormous advantage. The protective effect is immediate, without a lengthy setup phase, without additional exposure of the emergency personnel, and without interrupting ongoing medical measures. Within a few moments, a defined space is created in which work can be carried out calmly, concentratedly, and in a structured manner, while the surrounding area remains secure.
The removable floor as a decisive factor. Closely linked to the P.O.P.S. system is the fully removable floor, another key feature of RIGLOO protective tents. This floor is not permanently integrated, but deliberately designed as a separate element. This allows the tent to be placed over the patient without creating obstacles or having to change the position of the injured person.
In practice, this means that the patient can remain on a NATO standard stretcher, on the ground, in the snow, or on uneven terrain. The RIGLOO closes around this situation and still creates a closed protective space. Only after setting up can a decision be made as to whether and how a floor is inserted, for example, to insulate against moisture or to create a clean working surface.
Medically, this aspect is of enormous importance. The removable floor allows for consistent patient-friendly care and supports the principle of minimal movement. Tactically, it allows for flexibility, as the tent can be used in a wide variety of locations and on a variety of surfaces without compromising its function.
RIGLOO does not view its products as traditional tents, but rather as temporary shelters. This distinction is crucial. The space created protects against wind, rain, snow, heat, and cold, reduces the influence of the environment on the patient, and stabilizes their condition. At the same time, it provides visual protection, which plays a central role in both civilian and military scenarios.
In public situations, this means preserving dignity and reducing stress. In tactical situations, it means signature reduction, lower observability, and a protected working area for paramedics. The RIGLOO thus becomes a tool that addresses medical, psychological, and tactical effects simultaneously.
Variants and deployment philosophy
The different RIGLOO variants follow the same basic technical idea, but are adapted to specific areas of application. Woodland versions blend visually into wooded and green environments, while Tundra variants are optimized for open, snowy, or barren landscapes. Regardless of color or pattern, the function remains the same: quick protection, minimal movement, maximum control.
Supplementary systems such as heating solutions, heated mats, power supply, and marker lights expand the protective space depending on the situation. This makes the RIGLOO a scalable system that can be adapted to short-term emergency care as well as longer-term field treatment.
Clear demarcation and role in use
RIGLOO is not a permanent shelter, a tent for staying in, or a substitute for permanent medical facilities. It is deliberately designed as a short-term, highly functional solution. Its strength lies in the minutes and hours after an injury, when medical decisions must be made under uncertainty.
It is precisely in this phase that the value of the P.O.P.S. system and the removable floor become apparent. They make RIGLOO one of the few protection systems that are uncompromisingly oriented toward the patient and not the setup process. This turns a tent into a tactical tool that saves time, reduces risks, and sustainably improves the quality of prehospital care.
In summary, it can be said that RIGLOO is not a product for the margins of an operation, but for its most critical moments. Where movement is dangerous, time is short, and protection is needed immediately, the system unfolds its full effect.
